SCERT Kerala grace marks system revision

The SCERT is looking to find a way to integrate some of the co-curricular activities into the academic set up.

The idea is to identify fields outside the curriculum that each student excels in, encourage them in that  and award them marks based on their performance. However, these marks won't be clubbed to the exam results of the subjects which are part of the curriculum, like it used to be done earlier.

However, SCERT director J Prasad said a final decision is yet to be reached and the plan is to submit the recommendations to the government.

There have been widespread calls for the current grace marks system to be revamped, after which the ministry of education directed the SCERT for a revision.

SCERT then took suggestions and remarks about the revision from the public through their official website.

A final decision will be taken only after holding discussions with students, student unions and parents, Prasad pointed out.
