Babitha has been bedridden for around three years due to a tumour in her uterus. She lost the ramshackle cottage in Kanjirappally, which she and her 14-year-old daughter Saiba was living in, to a relative following a court order.

Visuals of police officers evicting Babitha and Saiba from the house filled news channels and social media over the last couple of days. And it seems it touched several hearts, who have now offered a helping hand to the two women.

The cast and crew of upcoming Malayalam film 'Take Off' have decided to offer Rs 5 lakh to the family. Actors Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Parvathy, producer Anto Jospeh and director Mahesh Narayanan contributed to the cause.

Meanwhile, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the Kottayam district collector to pay an urgent financial aid to the family.

The Kanjirappally panchayat officials, sub inspector, Saiba’s school authorities a few local politicians have come forward to support the women.

It is also understood that a few individuals and organisations have also offered the family a piece of land to build a house.
