Mahesh Sharma alias Lucky from Rajasthan was nabbed on Wednesday evening by a team of Kochi's city police after they found the 15-year-old girl in his captivity. The accused had allegedly sought a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from the girl's parents in Kochi to release her.

Sharma had also threatened her parents, saying the girl would be sold to sex trade if the ransom is not paid before June 21. The police arrested Sharma from Noida after his movement was tracked with the help of cyber cell.

The accused got in touch with the girl through Facebook, introducing himself as a film producer. Later, he met the girl after promising her a role in a Bollywood film and abducted her, the police said. After taking her to Uttar Pradesh, Sharma telephoned the girl's parents and sought a ransom of Rs 5 lakh.

Though the girl's family is originally from Uttar Pradesh, they have been staying in Vaduthala near Kochi for the past 10 years.
