The Kerala Women’s Commission has been flooded with death threats and intimidating letters ever since the body filed a case against Poonjar MLA PC George for his derogatory comments against the assaulted actress.

Anonymous people even mailed covers containing human faeces to their office, commission chairperson MC Josephine told Asianet News on Thursday.

The commission had set off legal proceedings against George after he questioned the authenticity of the actress’ revelation that she was assaulted and harassed in a moving her car in Kochi back in February.

The legislator questioned how the actress was able go to work a day after the incident, if she had been assaulted and sexually abused. He also insisted that actor Dileep, jailed on charges of conspiracy in the attack, is innocent.

This led to some heated exchanges between George and Josephine in their respective press conferences. The Poonjar MLA said that he won't apologise to anyone and slammed the women’s commission, saying it doesn't have any capable leaders. Josephine retaliated, saying the commission won't feel threatened by people like George and stressed that they would proceed with the case.

The assaulted actress had herself written to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against George's comments, while the Women in Cinema Collective also filed a complaint against him.
