No end to political violence in Kannur

Kannur has often witnessed political violence. It can be recalled that few months ago, CPM and BJP workers were attacked in separate incidents in Kannur. Workers of both political parties have been targeted in the town.

No end to political violence in Kannur

Four CPM workers were attacked in Mattannur, Kerala on Sunday (July 1) afternoon. And on the same day evening three BJP activists were targeted.

BJP workers Sachin, Suji and Vijith sustained serious injuries and have been hospitalised. The injured BJP trio was admitted to Thalassery Indira Gandhi Hospital.

Four CPM workers were attacked near Mattannur town in east Kannur around 2 pm on Sunday. It was claimed that RSS workers were behind the crime. The injured CPM workers were admitted to AKG Hospital.

It was reported that the violence against BJP workers happened just hours after the attack on CPM workers. Mattannur police reached the spots where attacks took place and are investigating.

Also, in May, CPM activist Babu Kannipoyil and RSS worker Shamej were killed on the same day. The police are investigating and no arrests have been made so far.
