A priest from Kerala, who went missing in Scotland, was found dead, the police informed Provincial House in Thiruvananthapuram. Fr Martin Xavier Vazhachira, 33, had gone missing on June 20 from Edinburg under mysterious circumstances.

Fr Vazhachira, a native of Pulinkunnu, Alappuzha, was reported missing after church-goers could not find him during holy mass on Wednesday. The body of the father was found on the beach which is 30kms from the place where he was staying.

He was available on the phone until Tuesday 1 pm, and after that, no one has seen him. Authorities of the diocese informed the police about his missing as he was not present at the church for two days.

All his personal belongings, including purse and passport, were found at his house. However, the room was lying open which added to the mystery.

Fr Vazhachira, who was serving as assistant vicar at Chethipuzha church in Changanassery diocese, went to Edinburg eight months back for pursuing higher studies.
