Christy appeared at the Crime Branch office in Thrippunithura and revealed that Cronin had called up her once and warned her not to meet or even speak to Mishel from now on.

She also revealed that Cronin had asked her for details of all the male friends Mishel had. Christy said that she had given the same statement to the police, during the initial investigation.

Mishel, who left her hostel on March 5 to attend the evening mass at Kaloor church, was found dead in the Kochi lake the next day.

Cronin, who was arrested for abetment of suicide, had earlier admitted to the police that the relationship was going through a tough patch, while another friend of Mishel told the police she had seen Cronin hitting the girl once.

Cronin had made several calls and sent dozens of text messages to her on the day she went missing. Crime Branch believe Mishel committed suicide due to the trauma caused by her relationship with Cronin.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch visited Cronin’s office in Chhattisgarh as part of the investigation. It has been found that Cronin contacted Mishel through his office line on the day she went missing.

Crime Branch will visit Cronin's residence for more evidence today. So far there has been no proof to suggest that Cronin was in Kochi on the day of the incident or had sent any of his friends to her.

Crime Branch, however, remains confounded with the lack of any no eyewitnesses in the case.

The Goshree bridge, from where Mishel Shaji Varghese is believed to have committed suicide, is one of city's most crowded areas especially in the evenings. However, so far only one person has come forward claiming he saw Mishel on the bridge, and even he is not completely sure whether it was her.

Crime Branch believe it’s impossible for someone to jump off the Goshree bridge at that time without anyone noticing.
