MBBS NRI admission 1 crore

As many as 653 students in Kerala are ready to pay ₹1 crore to get an MBBS degree. The latest report revealed by Entrance Commissioners Officer states that Keralites are willing to pay whatever amount needed to become a doctor.

The Office has released the details of 15% persons who have applied for MBBS seat under NRI quota. The amount is only towards the tuition fees fixed by Rajendra Babu Committee.

The Committee had fixed the annual tuition fee for students seeking admission under management quota as ₹20 lakh per year. Thus, the student will have to pay ₹1 crore towards tuition fee in five years.

The number will be over 1000 as several students decided to move to colleges outside Kerala as there was confusion about MBBS admission in the state. Some might not be named in the list but willing to pay the fees, MES group chairman Fazal Gafoor said.

He is also of the opinion that there is nothing wrong in getting the higher amount from those who are ready to pay it.

The admission to medical colleges in Kerala was in a fix after some self-financing medical colleges approached the court seeking a hike in the fees. Some of them were not ready to agree with the ₹5 lakh fee fixed by the committee for students gaining admission under merit.

Two colleges also managed to get a positive order from the Supreme Court according to which they could charge ₹11 lakh as the fee for a year. However, the apex court decision is not final and will stand only till High Court pronounce final verdict regarding admission fees.
