Kochi woman arrested for sexually abusing minor boy

The Kottayam police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old woman on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy in Ramapuram near Pala. 

The woman, who hails from Kochi, reportedly arrived at the boy's house in Ramapuram on Sunday morning, before entering his room and locking the door. She refused to come out of the room or let the boy out. The boy's family finally called the local police who kicked the door down and arrested her.

It is understood that the two got acquainted through Facebook a few months ago and have been in constant touch ever since. The woman had stayed with the same boy in another house in Ramapuram a week ago, before the boy's relatives showed up and sent her back to Kochi.

The arrest was made under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on a complaint lodged by the boy’s mother.

The woman, who works as a beautician in Kochi, was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate's Court in Pala before being remanded in custody. The boy was taken to a Juvenile Justice Board facility, after a medical examination, as he refused to return home.
