Kerala man wins luxury car worth Rs 1.6 crore at Dubai Duty Free raffle

The formidable run of Kerala natives in the lottery draws held in the Gulf continued this week as well, with a Malayalee expat winning a luxury car in a draw conducted by the Dubai Duty Free authorities.

Manuchandran Gopalakrishna Pillai, who hails from Chengannur, took home a BMW 750Li xDrive M Sport after his number popped up in the Dubai Duty Free's 'finest surprise' draw held at the Dubai International Airport last week.  The model costs around Rs 1.62 crore in India.

A senior engineer with an air condition company in Sharjah, Manu had bought the tickets from the Dubai airport in February while he was returning to Sharjah from Kerala. The ticket was bought for AED 500.

Manu, who has been working in the UAE for the last 30 years, is currently settled in Sharjah, with wife Raji and children Rahul and Reshma. He is the son of advocate Malakkara Gopalakrishna Pillai, while his brother Madhuchandran is also a lawyer and practices in the Chengannur court.

Shanthi Achuthan Kutty, a housewife who hails from Kerala, had claimed the Rs 6.5 crore (USD 1 million) from the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion, which was drawn last Tuesday.

Back in March, Sreeraj Krishnan Kopparembil, a shipping coordinator who hails from Thrissur, had won Rs 13 crore in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket Draw. And In April, Nishita Radhakrishna Pillai, a doctor from Malappuram, hit the jackpot and won Rs 17.5 crore also in the Big Ticket raffle.
