RSS worker's murder: Police identify all 7 suspects, 3 arrested

The police team probing the murder of RSS worker Choorakkad Biju in Kannur has identified all seven suspects in the case.

It is understood that three persons, including a youth named Reneesh who was directly involved in the murder, have been arrested. Police suspect that Reneesh and another person named Anoop plotted the attack on Biju.

The breakthrough came after the officers seized a car, believed to have been used by the culprits. CCTV footage from an area near the crime scene had captured visuals of the vehicle. The owner and the driver, both Ramanthali natives, were then taken into were taken into custody for questioning, and details about the culprits came to light.

RSS worker Choorakkad Biju was hacked to death allegedly by CPM activists at Payyanur town on Friday, prompting the BJP to demand imposition of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Kannur district. The murder was the first incident of political violence since "peace talks" in January between the leaders of the ruling CPM in Kerala and the BJP-RSS in Kannur.

Meanwhile, a youth named Sandeep (27) was hacked to death near Thalassery on Sunday. However, the police have stated that it was not a political murder and is unrelated to Biju's death.
