Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Wednesday visited the house of RSS activist Choorakkad Biju, who was murdered in Kannur last week.

Biju was hacked to death allegedly by CPM activists at Payyanur town on Friday. Rudy visited Biju's house at Ramanthali village and spoke to Biju’s father Purushothaman and regional BJP leaders. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, leaders PK Krishna Das and PC Thomas also accompanied the minister.

"How can you expect a person, who doesn't do enough to protect the people in his own hometown, to protect the people in a state?" Rudy asked, referring to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who hails from Kannur.

Rudy also visited the place where Biju was hacked to death.

Meanwhile, Kummanam has said the police case filed against him, in connection with a video he posted on Twitter, was baseless and is an attempt to divert people's attention from the conspiracy behind Biju's murder.

Kummanam had posted a video, which showed some youth shouting and celebrating, on his Twitter and Facebook pages on Saturday with the caption, "Brutality, beastiality at its worst- Kannur Communists celebrate murder of RSS Karyakartha Biju, whom they beheaded. #JungleRajInKerala (sic)."

The Kannur police registered a case against the BJP leader on Tuesday for spreading a "fake" video.

Reiterating that the video was authentic, Kummanam said, “The video shows CPM workers’ celebration. I posted it to help the government view such matters with due seriousness.”
