Amid indications that Kamal Haasan is soon likely to join politics, the actor has decided to join hands with Kerala CPM in the campaign against communal fascism. Giving a hint about his political affiliation, the actor had earlier visited Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and sought advice on the move.

Haasan had also made it clear that he considers leftists as his hero and that his colour is definitely not saffron. The actor went on saying that the governments in Kerala are pushing the state to the standards of western countries and his choice of Pinarayi Vijayan is not a blind admiration but a sensible one.

After clarifying about his affiliation and interest to begin from Kerala, just like his film career, the Ulaganayakan has now decided to participate in the Minorities National convention against communalism to be held in Kozhikode on September 16. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will attend the convention.

There are reports that the Left Democratic Front want the actor to lead the secular front in Tamil Nadu. Haasan is of the opinion that Tamil Nadu is in political turmoil for the past one year and the Governor should intervene. Meanwhile, CPM Politburo member A K Padmanabhan had said that it is up to the actor to decide in this regard.

However, Haasan has not decided about getting engaged in politics but thinks he can do a great deal with the support he already has from his fan base.
