BJP leader Shobha Surendran has stated that Kerala Governor P Sathasivam should quit the post if he is afraid of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

RSS worker Choorakkad Biju was hacked to death allegedly by CPM activists at Payyanur town in Kannur on Friday. Speaking at a protest meeting in front of Kerala House in New Delhi, Shobha said that if the Governor has any respect for the post he holds, he should do what he is supposed to do in the case.

The BJP leaders in Kerala had met Sathasivam on Saturday and held talks over the murder. Leaders including O Rajagopal met the Governor to request him to impose Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Kannur. The Governor later handed over their request letter to the CM.

The BJP have alleged that the CPM is responsible for the murder and also accused the ruling party of "spearheading murder politics" to annihilate its political opponents in Kannur.

Biju's murder was the first incident of political violence since CPM-RSS 'peace talks' in January.
