Former state police chief T P Senkumar is alleged to have insulted assaulted actress during a telephone conversation. The allegation was raised by Saji James, the editor of Samakalika Malayalam published by The New Indian Express Group.

It is alleged that Senkumar made the remarks while talking to another person over the phone, during an interview given to the weekly. The audio record of the interview has the remarks, the editor said.

Responding to this, Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) the forum of women actors and technicians of Malayalam film industry said that they are planning to take legal action against him. The collective, in a Facebook post, said that the alleged remarks were an insult to the women in the film field.

Meanwhile, Senkumar got an interim bail from the court after a case was registered against him for his alleged communal remarks during the interview. He was booked under Section 153 (A) of the IPC, promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion.
