Father, relatives arrested for raping minor girls for over a year

Kerala police have unearthed a major sex scandal involving two minor girls at Sivagiri in Kurikathoor, Kozhikode. The magnitude of the incident came to light after cops traced the culprits including businessmen and politicians. 

The officials have found that a large number of persons including father, relatives and several others have raped the siblings, aged 17 and 14. A case has been registered against the father based on the statement given by elder daughter. 

The elder girl approached Kunnamangalam police in December 2016 and filed a complaint against her father. She said that the father abused her sexually and presented her sister to several other persons. The minor siblings were being taken to various locations and raped for the past one year. 

Following the complaint, a case was registered, and on conducting a detailed probe, it was found that several politicians and businessmen were included in the list of accused.

During the course of the investigation, the younger girl also filed a complaint and case was booked against other accused. Kunnamangalam Childline too filed a complaint and detailed statements of the girls.

They gave the list of persons who abused them and the locations to which they were taken over the period of time. So far, police have arrested ten persons in connection with the incident. 

The girls were shifted to Government Shelter Home. It is suspected that the mother tried to hush up the matter though the girls explained the incident to her.
