Farmer's suicide: Village officers booked under non-bailable offence

Farmers suicide village officers booked

Kerala police registered a case against the officials who refused to accept tax from the farmer, who committed suicide. Village assistant was charged with abetment to suicide. 

The police have slapped non-bailable sections which could warrant and imprisonment of up to 7- 10 years to the officials.

The Upalogayukta too had registered a suo motu case against revenue officials over the incident. Former village officer of Chembanoda village office and former village assistant were charged with criminal offences. 

The Upalokayukta registered case against officials based on media reports. The officials are asked to appear before the bench on July 26.

Kaavilpurayidathil Joy, a native of Chakkittapara grama panchayat was found hanging outside Chempanoda village office on June 21 night. Relatives allege that the officials had tampered the documents related to his death.
