Fahadh Faasil set to play lead in Mani Ratnam's upcoming multi-starrer?

Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is reportedly set to play the male lead in Mani Ratnam's next, which will have an ensemble cast.

It has already been confirmed that Fahadh, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh are onboard for Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer project. And if the latest reports are to believed, Fahadh will be playing one of the lead roles, if not the protagonist.

Oscar winner AR Rahman, who has come up his best work in Mani Ratnam's films, has been confirmed to compose the music. 11-time National Award winner Santhosh Sivan will handle the cinematography, while renowned editor Sreekar Prasad has also been roped in for the project.

The yet-to-be-titled project will start rolling from January 2018. It is understood that the film won’t be a romantic flick like the director's recent films and will be in the thriller genre. Mani Ratnam has directed 25 films and produced 16 under his production company Madras Talkies so far.

Meanwhile, Fahadh is currently busy with the production of Carbon, helmed by veteran cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu, which also has Mamta Mohandas in the lead. 

Ace cinematographer KU Mohanan handles the camera for Carbon, while fellow Bollywood big shot Vishal Bhardwaj composes the film's music. The much-awaited film is set to release by the year-end.
