- The bomb squad and the dog squad launched search operations at the airport
- The police then found out that the call was made by the bomb squad SI's brother
The police arrested a Malayinkeezhu native on Saturday, in connection with a hoax call regarding a bomb threat at the Thiruvananthapuram international airport.
It is understood that the bomb squad Sub Inspector received an anonymous call at around 10:30pm on Friday, with the accused claiming that a bomb has been planted at the airport and it would go off that night, before disconnecting the call and switching off the phone.
The bomb squad and the dog squad launched search operations at the airport following the alert but could not find anything suspicious.
The police then investigated the anonymous call and found out that it was made by the bomb squad SI's brother Manshaan.
Manshaan was then taken into custody and questioned, where he admitted he made the hoax call to "trick his brother" and that he was in an inebriated state at the time. He was later let out on bail.
