Actor Dileep has found himself embroiled in a fresh controversy after Karumalloor grama panchayat president filed a petition against the actor, alleging that he encroached on a poramboke land on the banks of Periyar.

In his petition, panchayat president GD Shiju claimed the actor had encroached on 30 cents on the banks of Periyar river at Kunnukara panchayat under Karumalloor village limits in Ernakulam back in 2005 and registered it in his and ex-wife Manju Warrier's names.

Shiju also alleged conspiracy behind the shifting of a regulator-cum-bridge 350 metres from the original spot to benefit Dileep and the real estate mafia, which had allegedly bought land in the area, according to a report in The Hindu.
Shiju has sent copies of the petition to the Chief Minister, the vigilance director and the revenue, PWD and water resources minister.
Dileep is currently in remand at the Aluva sub-jail after being arrested on charges of conspiracy in the Kochi actress attack. The actor has also been found to have encroached on 1 acre of land in Chalakudy to build his multiplex D Cinemaas.
