Dileep bail Supreme Court

Actor Dileep, who was arrested and denied bail in actress attack case, is likely to remain in jail for a longer period, even for months, after High Court rejected his bail plea citing various reasons. The actor is now left with two options, to approach apex court or to remain silent for the time being and approach High Court after few days.

Earlier, Dileep had got legal advice to secure bail before his manager Appuni, who is still absconding, got arrested. However, latest reports are that it won't be good for him to approach Supreme Court considering the points raised by High Court while denying bail.

The actor had been charged under 10 provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, and two from the Information Technology Act. Denying his bail plea, High Court said that police has clear evidence proving his involvement in the conspiracy.

The court also said that the actor is highly influential and is likely to tamper with the evidence and influence witnesses if released. The bench also said that the investigation is still going on and it won't be good to grand bail at such early stage of the probe.

Naming the crime as rare and unique the judge in the order said that the meticulous planning and cruel execution to wreak vengeance on a woman by engaging criminals to sexually abuse her. It was also said that the mobile phone and memory card, the crucial evidence in the case, is still missing and they are a potential threat to the life of the victim.

If released, there is every possibility of the accused attempting to interfere with the probe about the card.

With such strong contentions raised by the court against granting of bail, there is very less possibility for the actor to get a positive order from Supreme Court. Hence the actor is not likely to approach apex court.

In case he moves Supreme Court and is denied bail there, the actor will have to remain in jail for 90 days, the time period by which police is supposed to finish the probe and submit chargesheet.

Hence, the wise move will be to remain silent for some days and approach High Court again. Even then, the decision of the court will largely depend on the stance taken by the prosecution.
