He will use the money for making phone calls to relatives and his advocate. Jail inmates are allowed to make calls thrice a week to three numbers submitted to jail superintendent.

Usually, jail inmates are given ₹800 as canteen allowance, but the actor is not eligible for this. The allowance is granted to those undergoing long term imprisonment.

Anoop had visited Dileep in jail, and the authorities asked him to send the amount via money order. Two other relatives, Vettinka Sunil and Suraj, too had visited the actor and they were granted 10 minutes to meet him.

However, the actor won't get the amount in his hand. The charges towards phone call and other expenses will be reduced from the amount. Even the phone calls are restricted, and the inmates are only allowed to make calls for ₹5 per week. The inmates can also use the amount to purchase paste, brush, biscuit and mosquito repellent from jail canteen.

Meanwhile, there are reports that a person, accused in a double murder case, had visited the jail to meet Dileep. He visited the jail on Sunday and held talks with the superintendent for about an hour. However, jail superintendent P P Baburaj explained that he was visiting the officer and not the actor.
