In a bizarre incident reported from Idukki, a woman came back to life after her family put her in a mobile mortuary, thinking she is dead.

Vandanmedu native Ratnam has been moved to a private hospital in Kattappana after one of the relatives noticed her fingers moving inside the mobile mortuary.

Ratnam, wife to labourer Muniswamy, was reportedly undergoing treatment for jaundice at the Velammal Medical College Hospital in Madurai. The relatives got her discharged and brought her back to Idukki recently after doctors told them her chances of recovery is less.

On Wednesday morning, the family thought she is dead and placed her in a mobile mortuary, ahead of the funeral. However, one of the relatives who arrived for the funeral noticed her fingers moving and informed the police.

The police have now shifted the woman to the ICU of St John's Hospital in Kattappana. Staff at the hospital has confirmed the incident and informed Asianet Newsable that the woman's condition remains critical.
