Customs seize gold worth Rs 1 crore at Kochi airport

Customs officials at the Kochi airport seized over 3.5 kilograms of gold, valued at around Rs 1 crore, from two passengers who arrived at Nedumbassery from the Gulf on Sunday.
Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit seized 3 kgs of gold, worth Rs 91 lakh, from a passenger who arrived by a Saudi Arabia flight on Sunday morning. The gold was concealed as 31 small pieces hidden inside a car battery charger and was found in the passenger's trolley bag.
The customs also seized three gold wires weighing around 500 grams from a passenger who had landed in Kochi from Dubai via Colombo, later in the day. The gold was in the form of beading on his bag, according to a Hindu report.
