CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has stated that the BJP's claim to capture power in Kerala is just a "daydream" and added that Sangh Parivar had no role in the development of the state.

The statement comes just days after BJP president Amit Shah's visit to Kerala, during which he exhorted party workers to strive hard to come to power and end the "alternate rule" of CPM-led LDF and Congress-headed UDF in the state.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah always return from Kerala by stating that the BJP will come to power in the state," PTI quoted CPM leader Kodiyeri on Tuesday, taking a dig at the saffron party. "They are daydreaming and making statements that they can come to power in Kerala by winning 15 per cent votes as they did in Gujarat by garnering 10 per cent votes."

Kodiyeri also stressed that the BJP leaders should understand that the LDF rule had resulted in the growth of Kerala and Sangh Parivar has no role in the state's development.

The CPM veteran also compared the various development indices of Kerala with that of BJP-ruled states and claimed that Kerala was in first place in human development, while Gujarat were on the 12th and Rajasthan 17th.
