The arrest of a Keralite in connection with recent ATM robberies in the state has pointed to the involvement of a policeman in the incident. It seems, Asloop Khan, a head constable with Delhi Crime Branch, is the main accused in the case.

The miscreants had looted the ATM's at Kazhakoottam and Cheriyanadu, after cracking the vaults using a gas cutter and cowbars. The thieves robbed ₹10.5 lakh from Kazhakoottam and ₹4 lakh from Chengannur.

There are reports that Khan, who was absconding after taking leave, has landed in police custody.

Police had earlier arrested Chengannur native Suresh Kumar from Haryana. It was suspected that the robbery was committed by North Indian lobby.

The gang also attempted robbery at Kanjikuzhy and Ramapuram. Investigating officers had obtained similar finger prints from all four places.
