Flood effect: Shamanna Garden residents to get alternate houses

Shamanna Garden residents to get alternate houses

The Urban Development Minister KJ George has instructed officials to provide alternate houses to the residents of Pipeline, Shamanna Garden, Vijayanagara, where the Rajakaluve water flooded the area, following heavy downpour last week, reported Kannada Prabha.

He visited the rain hit areas at VIjayanagara and Govindarajanagara, along with local MLA and Housing Minister M Krishnappa and MLA Priya Krishna on Thursday. He inspected the status of mammoth water canal near Pipeline at Shamanna Garden railway gate.  

During inspection residents told him that during rainy season the canal overflows and rushes into houses, flooding completely and subsequently the foundations are eroded and houses may collapse any time.  Minister K J George responded and instructed the officials to get Rs 10 crore special grants sanctioned immediately  and start the civil works to develop the canal.  He also instructed to take action to provide alternate housing and to sanction housing board houses at concession rates.

Earlier, he inspected the mammoth canal at RPC Layout in VIjayanagara sunken due to rain havoc and instructed the officials to construct the canal and take action to prevent water flooding houses.

The Minister also announced Rs 36.5 crore to repair and develop roads, sewage and pedestrian path at Chennappa Industrial area at Kamakshi Palya in Govindarajanagara limits. Mayor G Padmavathi, BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad and other officials accompanied him.
