Sasikalas cellmate Ilavarasi acquires new skill in Parappana Agrahara Jail

It seems like amidst the furore that their prison stint is causing, VK Sasikala and her sister-in-law Ilavarasi have their own agendas.

While Sasikala just enjoyed her outing (parole) a few weeks ago, Ilavarasi had no such luck, but seems like the lady is determined not to her let her jail time go waste and enrolled in some classes.

According to a report in the Deccan Herald, IPS officer HS Revanna, the newly appointed DIG prisons, was on a visit to the Parappana Agrahara Jail recently. On enquiring how Ilavarasi was doing, she responded to the DIG in chaste Kannada and even greeted him saying "Namaskara, sir. Chennagidira?" (Greetings, sir. How are you doing?).

Ilavarasi has been trying to learn Kannada for the past six months and has in fact graduated to starting to read in it as well. A prison official also mentioned how she had successfully cleared her Class 1 and 2 Kannada exams in this short while.

There is a makeshift school inside the prison, revealed the prison official. Along with Ilavarasi, there two Nigerians, two Maharashtrians and six other female convicts who have expressed interest in  learning the language.

Ilavarasi has learning as her priorities, we wonder what cellmate Sasikala has to say to that? What new skills is the ousted AIADMK General Secretary learning now or is she planning on a political innings even now? But seems like Sasikala is content with having Ilavarasi do the language learning part as she has shown no interest in learning the language.
