Mystery shrouds  the death of Bengaluru-based soldier Narendra R who allegedly shot himself with his service rifle at Pahalgam in Jammu Kashmir on Sunday.

Narendra was found dead with gun shots on his forehead at his army camp. While the army claimed that Narendra killed himself, his parents are not ready to buy it.

He had returned to work ten days ago, and he was very happy, said his mother. "My son is not a coward to kill himself. He was happy at his work. He was the sole bread earner of the family," bemoaned his mother.

Narendra had recently moved his parents to a new house from a tin sheet-roofed house.

Narendra's father who refused to buy the suicide theory told a television channel that why would his son kill himself when he was happy with his job. "Someone from the camp called up to say that Narendra committed suicide. I demand an investigation into his death," Narendra's father told a television channel.

His parents who live in Rajagopalanagar have decided to appeal for a probe into their son's death.
