To ease the dense traffic between Jayanagar 9th block, Ragigudda junction to Silk Board junction, BBMP and BMRCL have jointly agreed to construct flyover to facilitate both regular transport and Metro. The State Government had proposed to construct a flyover from 9th block to Silk Board junction in 2016-17. A tender was also called by BMRCL for construction of 4 lanes, 4 km long flyover and the process is completed. The civil works will be completed in next 3 years.

At a meeting on Friday headed by Urban Development Minister K J George, both BBMP and BMRCL agreed to invest in the project. According to the existing plan drawn by BMRCL, the flyover will facilitate both vehicular traffic as well as Namma Metro. From RV Road to Silk Board junction a 19 km Metro line and 4 km long vehicular flyover will be constructed. The project will cost a total Rs 800 crores and the vehicular flyover only will cost Rs 300 crores, of which BBMP will bear Rs 100 crore. BMRCL will oversee the construction of the flyover.

The Jayadeva Hospital flyover at Jayanagar East End will be demolished for facilitating the Metro line from RV Road to Bommasandra. However the grade separator will not be demolished. The flyover will facilitate both vehicles as well as Metro. The flyover from Ragigudda to Silk Board junction will be signal free and ease the traffic, officials informed the minister. BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad and BMRCL Commissioner Pradeep Singh Kharola were present.
