CM to Delhi today for Cabinet expansion meeting

FollowThe Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is flying to Delhi to discuss with Congress High Command regarding the Cabinet expansion to fill up 3 vacant seats and to decide the Party's legislative assembly candidate for the election of legislative council, reported Kannada Prabha.
Siddaramaiah will fly to Delhi in a special flight at around 4 pm, along with Rahul Gandhi, who is in City to launch Indira Canteen and the Quit BJP campaign. He is expected to return on Thursday night. He is meeting Congress High Command and discussing about who should be give the Home Portfolio and the other 2 ministries and also the candidate for MLA from the legislative assembly.
Interestingly, a lobby stronger than the one for the ministership, is working for the MLA. The post vacant by the death of Vimala Gowda is only for a period of 10 months but the lobbying is very strong. It is said that Siddaramaiah may suggest former mayor Ramachandrappa or his close friend C A Ibrahim. Mallikarjuna Kharge has suggested the name of U B Venkatesh, while KPCC president Dr Parameshwar has suggested G C Chandarshekhar.
However, in the event the High Command decides to select a woman candidate then actor Ramya, who is in Rahul Gandhi’s team and the social media incharge, may get a chance. Under women’s quota Rani Satish, Tara Devi Siddartha are lobbying but they do not enjoy the confidence of high command, it is said.
There are a large number of aspirants for the posts vacated by Dr G Parameshwar, H Y Meti and by the demise of H S Mahadeva Prasad. For Dr Parameshwar’s post Malavalli MLA P M Narendra Swamy, MLC M Motamma and R B Timmapura are aspiring. Both Narendraswamy and Timmapura are in the forefront. But if High Command decides to consider a woman candidate then Motamma stands a strong chance.
For the post vacated by H S Mahadevaprasad, his wife Geetha Mahadevaprasad, Tipaturu MLA K Shadakshari, and Jamakhandi MLA Siddu Nyamagowda are trying. For the post vacated by H Y Meti, MLA M Revanna, Hosadurga Anjinappa are lobbying. Meti is aspirant again but it is not sure if he will be considered, it is said.
The most important Home Portfolio, which the CM is taking care of currently, is proving a difficult decision. Whether it will be handed over to a new minister or to a senior Cabinet colleague is anticipating interest. Most probably it may be handed over to Ramanatha Rai or Ramesh Kumar, it is said. Horticulture Minister S S Mallikarjuna said if the High Command considers him for the Home ministry, he is willing to take it.
