This was SC East Bengal's first win of the season, as with three draws and four loses, it remains at the 10th spot. Meanwhile, Odisha FC suffered its sixth defeat of the season, while along with two draws and no wins, it stays at the bottom of the table.
Indian football giant, SC East Bengal came up with a respectable performance to tame Odisha FC in the 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL), at the Tilak Maidan in Goa, on Sunday. It was East Bengal's maiden win of the season, as it stays on 10th, while Odisha remains winless and at the rock bottom of the table.
The opening half saw the first attack of the game in the 11th minute, which saw East Bengal earning the lead through Anthony Pilkington's close-range header to the bottom left, following a headed assist from Daniel Fox. It was followed by a couple of saves for Odisha from East Bengal goalkeeper, Debjit Majumder.
The opening goal ensured nine more attacks until the 36th minute. East Bengal doubled its lead just two minutes later, as Jacques Maghoma's left-footed strike from a tough angle in the left flank to the top left, following an assist from Matti Steinmann, was highly commendable.
It ensured three more attacks, including a couple from Odisha. However, none of them was to any avail, as East Bengal walked in with the lead at half-time.
The second half turned out to be even more attacking. It saw 14 attacks until the 87th minute, including four saves, while three of them turned out to be from Majumder.
Meanwhile, in the 87th minute, Bright Enobakhare's right-footed shot to the bottom right from the centre tripled East Bengal's lead. It was followed by a couple of more attacks, including another save from Majumder.
However, the 93rd minute saw an own goal off Daniel Fox awarding Odisha a consolation. It eventually turned out to be the final highlight of the match, as East Bengal finished the game with the deserving three points.
