ISL 2020-21: NorthEast United FC and Gerard Nus part ways
NorthEast United FC is currently placed seventh in the 2020-21 Indian Super League. Gerard Nus took charge of the club in this ongoing season. The side has never won the title to date, with its best performance being in 2018-19, where it finished fourth.
Indian Super League (ISL) club, NorthEast United FC has parted ways with head coach Gerard Nus. The decision came following the side's 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC, at the Tilak Maidan in Goa, on Tuesday.
Following the draw, NEU is winless in its past seven games, as it lurks at the seventh spot in the table. Nus was also not available for the clash against Bengaluru on Tuesday, as the decision was supposedly made by then.
"NorthEast United Football Club announces with immediate effect the departure of Head Coach Gerard Nus. The Club has decided to part ways with the Spanish National after taking into consideration a contrast in the team's current tactics and the Club's philosophy and vision," the club said in a statement.

"The Club would like to thank Mr Nus for his hard work and commitment during his time at NorthEast United and wish him the best for all his future endeavours. Khalid Jamil has been appointed as the new interim Head Coach for the remainder of the current season," the statement added.
NEU's last win came against SC East Bengal, on December 5, which it had won 2-0. Meanwhile, Nus is the second manager to be let go this season, after Bengaluru had parted ways with Carles Cuadrat last week.
