Royal Challengers Bangalore woes continue as KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2017

Royal Challengers Bangalore seems to have landed in a soup as yet another player has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. They were already dealing with the news of their skipper Virat Kohli, who is likely to miss some of the matches because of his shoulder injury. Now, they took a severe blow as KL Rahul will not be able to feature for RCB in IPL 2017.

Reports are suggestive of the fact that Rahul will be travelling to London, where he will undergo a surgery. Rahul too sustained a shoulder injury during the India vs Australia Test series like Kohli. Rahul is expected to gain 100 percent fitness ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, which is slated to start on June 1.

“(My shoulder) It gets quite sore. I can't quite dive on the field. There are a few shots that I will have to restrict. I will play within myself. Even I do, it's not that I can’t score; I have all the shots in the book. That is what I spoke to the management and the captain. I will have to focus more on the problem in my shoulder. I am still enjoying batting with that problem,” Rahul had said after the 4th Test in Dharamsala against Australia.

Rahul was an integral part of RCB in IPL 2016 as he was scoring runs and keeping wickets for them as well. He was the third-highest run-getter for RCB in IPL 2016, scoring 397 runs in 12 matches.

Meanwhile, RCB has called for Tamil Nadu’s wicketkeeper-batsman N Jagadeesan as the replacement for Rahul. Jagadeesan was called to Bangalore for a trial by the team management. It remains to be seen whether Jagadeesan will be able to fill in Rahul’s shoes in RCB during the IPL 2017. However, for him to make it to the RCB playing XI, Jagadeesan has to pass the trial on April 2.
