- KKR are on a three-match unbeaten run in IPL 2017.
- Gujarat Lions were thrashed by 10 wickets in their first match against KKR this year.
Gujarat Lions (GL) will have a mountain to climb when they will take on the rampaging Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) the match no. 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata today evening. This ground is a fortress for Knight Riders as they have won the most number of matches at their home ground more than any other side in the history of IPL.
KKR have also won last 11 matches while chasing at this colossal venue. So if one has to go by the statistics, then Gujarat Lions have some serious issues to deal with. The Lions are coming into this match after they lost to the charged-up Royal Challengers Bangalore in Rajkot a few days ago.
KKR, on the other hand, have been extremely impressive. Each and every single player has been chipping in with efforts and that is what is making them a threatening side. All-round efforts have always been the game-changing aspect for Gautam Gambhir's KKR and therefore they mostly become too hot for their opponent to handle.
KKR is unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI. However, Chris Woakes might make way for the seasoned veteran Shakib Al Hasan and Kuldeep Yadav might get the nod as well. The Lions, on the other hand, would love to go with same playing XI that played against RCB.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir (C), Colin de Grandhomme/Darren Bravo, Robin Uthappa (wk), Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Suryakumar Yadav, Chris Woakes Shakib Al Hasan, Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav/Piyush Chawla, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Umesh Yadav.
Gujarat Lions: Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Suresh Raina (C), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Aaron Finch, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Andrew Tye, Praveen Kumar, Basil Thampi, Shadab Jakati.
