- Rishabh Pant's whirlwind innings knocked Gujarat Lions out of IPL 2017 playoff contention.
- The southpaw scored 97 from just 43 balls.
How often do we see a rank of young, ruthless talented players in one single team working really hard to gun the opponents down? In case you missed out, Rishabh Pant just played one of the best ever innings in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). One has to agree when none other the legend Sachin Tendulkar himself compliments that.
Delhi Daredevils required 209 runs to win in 20 overs. The way these young blokes of the Daredevils chased that target down, it looked like as if they have run chases for dinners, especially, Rishabh Pant. Sanju Samson added salt to the wounds with his whirlwind innings of 61 from just 31 balls as well.
Pant's innings was decorated with 9 monstrous sixes and 7 boundaries. He narrowly missed out on that hundred which would have been inscribed forever in the pages of IPL history. But that is exactly how cruel the game can turn out to be at times.
Here's how the cricketers reacted after Pant went berserk in Delhi:
