Irfan Pathan found no buyers and he is not going to feature in the 10th edition of the IPL. Pathan’s base price was only ₹ 50 lakh and he could have easily been bought by one of the eight franchises.
The IPL 2017 auction had a number of surprises in store for us. The shocking value of Ben Stokes to the snubbing of Imran Tahir, the cricket fans experienced it all on Monday. But two of the most shocking snubs at the IPL 2017 were the two Indian seamers - Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma.

Ishant’s base price of ₹ 2 crores might have made the franchises think a hundred times before they picked him up. Also, Ishant’s name came much later during the auction, by that time the teams had already made their choices. But Irfan Pathan’s base price was only ₹ 50 lakh and he could have easily been bought by one of the eight franchises.

Unfortunately, Irfan Pathan found no buyers and he is not going to feature in the 10th edition of the IPL. Unless and until, if there’s an injury or vacancy in any of the teams, Pathan ideally should not be losing hope.
Pathan missed the majority of the last season because of injuries. The left-arm seamer was with the Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2016 but he failed to make it to the playing XI in most of the matches under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

But he had a good run at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Pathan picked up five wickets in four matches with an impressive economy rate of 6.28. But that was not enough for the think tanks of the respective franchises it seems. His injuries and being out of form for most of the last domestic season made the buyers to not to opt for him.
However, Pathan’s heartfelt message for his fans after he was snubbed at the IPL 2017 auctions will surely melt your heart.
Here’s what he had to say:
