IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant Team profile, schedule, squad, key players

Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) made their entry into the realm of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the last season under the leadership of none other than MS Dhoni. But their performance was all over the place and could only finish in the 7th place in the IPL points table, just above Kings XI Punjab.

The former India skipper, Dhoni will not be leading the charge as the team management has decided to go with Australian captain, Steve Smith, to be at the helm of things. This in turn, should allow Dhoni to play his natural game. We are all aware of the fact that if Dhoni opens his arms in this format of the game, how ominous he can be!

They indeed have a formidable batting lineup. With Ajinkya Rahane and Usman Khawaja at the top of the order, their opening slot looks sorted. They will ideally be followed by Faf du Plessis at no. 3, Dhoni at 4 and Stokes at 5.

On the contrary, their bowling department looks a little weak. However, Ashoke Dinda, Ishwar Pandey, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rajat Bhatia and Imran Tahir/Adam Zampa should be their remaining choices for playing XI.
