IPL 2017: KKR team profile, full squad, schedule, key players

The two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are ready for yet another season of T20 cricket. But they have already taken a number of blows even before the start of the 10th edition of the IPL.

 

They lost out on their star all-rounder Andre Russell as he has been banned for a year from any form of cricket for doping. Recently, Enforcement Directorate has sent a show cause notice to KKR’s owners Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan and Juhi Chawla for violating FEMA guidelines.

 

Despite these factors, KKR did a fair amount of business at the mini IPL 2017 auction. They have roped in some talented players in the form of Chris Woakes, Trent Boult, Darren Bravo, Rishi Dhawan, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rovman Powell and couple more uncapped players.

 

They are a side which never tinkers with the core and they have maintained it this year as well. Boult will be an ideal replacement for Morne Morkel, who was released earlier. They have also retained their star players in the form of – Shakib al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Chris Lynn, Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Yadav and more. Most importantly, most of these players are in form currently and they will all look to emulate that in IPL 2017 as well for their side.

 

Skipper Gautam Gambhir should step up to the plate himself as his form would mean a lot to KKR as they are one side who defies bogging down every single season. They have one of the strongest sides in the IPL and they would want to replicate their strength on the field in IPL 2017.
