- Feroz Shah Kotla has not been a great venue for Delhi Daredevils when it comes to results.
- The Daredevils have lost four out of last five times they played against KKR in Delhi.
Two in-form teams, Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. These two sides have began just the way they wanted and are well on course towards yielding more positive results in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Delhi Daredevils, who did not have happy seasons in the past few editions of the IPL, seemed to have found their mojo back, in the time of adversities. Their combination looks absolutely spot on, with all their departments firing as and when required. The Daredevils are coming into this interesting fixture after handing a drubbing to Kings XI Punjab by 51 runs.
Meanwhile, KKR are an all-round unit - they are having contributions from all the departments as well. Gautam Gambhir's side has been one of the most consistent sides in the history of the IPL. KKR are placed second in the points table and they'd reclaim the top spot from Mumbai Indians yet again if they manage to get the better of Delhi Daredevils today evening.
However, the Daredevils do not hold a great record at their home ground against the visitors. The Daredevils have lost four out of last five games against KKR at this venue and that is not a stat Rahul Dravid would want to stare at before they take the field on Monday.
The temperature is going to take a toll on the batsmen batting first at the Feroz Shah Kotla as it is likely going to be around 43 degree-mark. The wicket is also likely to slow down as the game will progress. This game is between two evenly-matched sides in IPL 2017 and can turn out to be a ripper.
Either captains, are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XIs. However, Gambhir might just be tempted to play Shakib Al Hasan for the first time in place of Colin de Grandhomme because of the nature of the Kotla wicket.
