5 reasons why RCB's star-studded batting lineup is failing time and again

  • Virat Kohli and co. still have a chance to reach the qualifiers but for that they will have to start winning.
5 reasons RCB batting lineup failing time and again

It has just not been the year for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2017. Even before the start of the 10th edition of the IPL, they were hit by injuries - KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan and AB de Villiers. Mitchell Starc also pulled out of the IPL 2017. But they were breathing a sigh of relief as De Villiers and Kohli came back to the side in the last week after missing a few initial games of the tournament.

RCB have now lost four out of their five matches in IPL 2017 and that is something you don't usually see from a side, which has one of the most herculean batting lineups in the league. RCB lost two back-to-back home games against Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant and that is also something one usually don't get to see often.

There batting has disappointed them in IPL 2017 despite having a threatening top four in their ranks.

Here are 5 reasons why RCB's star-studded batting lineup has been failing time and again:

## They are too dependant on Virat Kohli - This is totally unacceptable. RCB need to come up with better all-round show. It cannot be a Kohli-show all the time as he is also a human being made of meat and flesh.

## Lack of fireworks from Chris Gayle - The big West Indian has just not opened fire in IPL 2017. If RCB has to do well, Gayle has to reload and fire -PERIOD!

## Middle-order conundrum - Kedar Jadhav cannot be the only man scoring runs every time in the middle order. Kohli needs more support from players like Stuart Binny, Shane Watson and Pawan Negi.

## Lack of belief: The RCB batsmen probably have lost the steam that they had in IPL 2016 and they need to regain that mojo in their next match against Gujarat Lions in Rajkot on Tuesday.

## Failing to capitalise on situations: It is not like they did not have good starts to their innings. But they have failed to build on those starts and turn them into big totals. RCB have not managed to go past the 180-run mark in any of these five matches in IPL 2017.
