Woman barges into 'husband's' wedding, threatens to shoot self if he married

In a dramatic incident, a woman barged into a wedding hall with a pistol and threatened to commit suicide if her 'husband' re-married. If that is dramatic, brace yourself for more.

She claimed that the groom and she were lovers and had married secretly in a temple and that she was also bearing his child. Speaking to the Times of India, an eyewitness said that the girl made a sudden appearance during the  garland ceremony and pointed the pistol at Devendra Awasthi, the groom. 

When the groom argued that he did not even know her, she turned the pistol toward herself and said that she would shoot herself if he married. Following this, an altercation started between the bride and the groom's party and the girl refused to marry him. The bride's family called off the wedding and also took back all the dowry they had given to the groom's family. 

Another eyewitness said, "The ex-girlfriend of Devendra, on being pacified by elders who suggested that she resolve the matter amicably, too returned home." Meanwhile, police is investigating the villagers' version of the case even though no case has been registered. The incident happened in the Shivli area in Kanpur Dehat.
