West Bengal: Youth dies in bike accident; family donates his organs to hospitals

A resident of Bhatpara, who was seriously injured in a bike accident, died due to brain haemorrhage at a hospital in Kolkata. His organs will be donated to several hospitals in Kolkata. Two green corridors will be created for organ transplants.

Kolkata: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, an extraordinary incident of organ donation took place in Bhatpara. The family of the deceased decided to donate his organs after losing their loved one in a bike accident. According to reports, the name of the deceased person is Sangram Bhattacharya.

He was injured in a bike accident at Kalyani on Friday night (August 14). Sangram was a medical representative by profession. 32-year-old Sangram was first taken to Kalyani Hospital. He was later shifted to Apollo Hospital. The young man took his last breath on Sunday (August 16). While coping with such a difficult situation, the family of the deceased decided to donate his organs.

His heart will be transplanted to the body of a 16-year-old girl who is admitted to Narayana Hospital. One kidney and his skin will be given to SSKM hospital. Another kidney and liver transplant will be performed at Apollo Hospital. The cornea of his eye will go to Disha Eye Hospital. Two green corridors will be created for organ transplantation.
