West Bengal: Unrest in family after son's marriage leads parents to commit suicide
A couple committed suicide after a few months of their son’s marriage. The hanging bodies of husband and wife were recovered from the house. According to sources, the couple committed suicide by hanging themselves on the same rope in their house on Tuesday (September 15) morning.

The deceased were identified as Khokon Chakraborty and Anju Chakraborty. They used to stay in Mahesh Colony area of Srirampur town. Kokhon was a plumber by profession. The couple has only one son. His name is Amit Chakraborty. He worked at Calcutta Medical College. Neighbors said that Amit got married a couple of months ago amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

According to sources, Khokon and Anju committed suicide by hanging themselves on the same rope in their house on Tuesday (September 15) morning. The neighbors first saw the hanging bodies of the husband and wife. They complained that Amit wanted to stay separately with his wife. The parents could not accept the decision of the son. Several tiffs took place in the family due to this reason.

Unable to bear the stress, the parents, at last, decide to commit suicide. Police are investigating the incident. The bodies have been sent for two autopsies. There is a shadow of mourning in the area.
