The CID has filed a supplementary chargesheet against the BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar in Rannaghat for the murder case of Trinamool MLA in Krishnaganj of Nadia. The chargesheet was filed in the Ranaghat sub-divisional court on Monday (September 14). Even though the chargesheet does not have BJP leader Mukul Roy’s name in it, the state intelligence officials are not willing to stop the investigation against him.

Satyajit Biswas, the former Trinamool MLA from Krishnaganj in Nadia, attended a function in his hometown on February 9, 2019. While attending the function, a few miscreants shot at him. The MLA died on the spot.

As soon as the incident occurred, a brawl started in the state. It was known that being an MLA, Satyajit Biswas always had a security guard with him. But incidentally, the security guard was on leave on that day. The state government directed a CID probe into the MLA's murder.

State intelligence officials arrested five people during the investigation. An FIR was also lodged against BJP's Nadia district president Jagannath Sarkar. Jagannath was called to Bhabani Bhavan in Kolkata and interrogated by several CID investigators. Meanwhile, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Jagannath Sarkar lost the Trinamool candidate from Ranaghat constituency, and the wife of the late MLA was elected as the MP.
