Rajasthan BJP launches massive protest over rising rape cases, state president Satish Poonia in custody

The saffron party, which is leaving no stones unturned in holding the ruling Congress government responsible for the spike in rape cases, has extended their support to the ruling dispensation in fighting the menace which they feel has embarrassed the state to a great extent.

Amid the ongoing politics over the rising atrocities against women, BJP workers and leaders, including party's Rajasthan chief Satish Poonia, staged a protest in Jaipur over rising crimes against women in the state.

Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia staged a sit-in protest against the Ashok Gehlot government in Jaipur, in connection with the alleged rape case after kidnapping two minor girls in Baran district of Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, both BJP-Congress are on the streets in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Both parties are protesting over crimes against women. The only difference is that the BJP is protesting over the growing atrocities against women in Rajasthan, while the Congress is on a sit-in protest over the Hathras incident in Uttar Pradesh. There is a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh while Congress in Rajasthan.

During this demonstration, Satish Poonia was taken into custody by the police. This then led to a clash between BJP workers and Jaipur Police. A BJP team also met Baran Reach victim's family.

At the same time, Satish Poonia said that we have sought time to meet the Governor of Rajasthan. We will be meeting him in the next couple of days. Significantly, the BJP is constantly engaged in besieging the state government on the Baran issue. 

"We have sought an appointment from the Governor, we will meet him in a day or two," Satish Poonia was quoted by ANI.

For the uninitiated, a case of raping two minor sisters came to light in Baran, Rajasthan. Two minor sisters of Baran town who went missing from the house on September 19 and were recovered from Kota on September 22. The younger sister told the media that two people took her to Nalka station and then took her to Jaipur at 8 in the morning. The first two men raped her. After this, two-three more people came. They also raped us.

The police were accused of laxity in the matter. At the same time, the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan also came on the backfoot regarding this matter.
