Punjab: Ludhiana cop dies of COVID-19, wife tests positive for virus

Ludhiana: Assistant commissioner of police, Anil Kumar Kohli, died of novel coronavirus in Ludhiana, Punjab, on Saturday afternoon, taking the COVID-19 toll in the state to 16. He succumbed to the infectious disease at the age of 52.
He was admitted to the Satguru Partap Singh (SPS) Hospital after he tested positive on April 13. Hospital sources said he died due to multiple organ failure.
This is the second COVID-19 death in Ludhiana in the past two days and the fifth since the pandemic struck.
The ACP (Ludhiana North) tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago and has remained on a ventilator ever since.
Although the officer had no travel history, he is supposed to have procured the infection while on duty at a sabzi mandi.
The first sample of Kohli tested negative but the next test came out to be positive.
Anil Kohli’s wife and driver, who is a constable from Ferozepur, and SHO of Jodhewal police station, which comes under the ACP’s jurisdiction, have also been tested positive for the virus.
