Mysuru Dasara: CM BS Yediyurappa, Dr Manjunath inaugurate much awaited event
Noted doctor and COVID-19 warrior Dr CN Manjunath along with Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa on Saturday, October 17 inaugurated the world-famous Dasara festival. They offered floral tribute to the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari housed in a silver mantapa atop Chamundi Hills.
Mysuru: Noted doctor and COVID-19 warrior Dr CN Manjunath, director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru along with Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa on Saturday, October 17 inaugurated the world-famous Dasara festival.
Dr Manjunath and BS Yediyurappa offered floral tribute to the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari housed in a silver mantapa atop Chamundi Hills.
Addressing the occasion after inaugurating the festival, Dr Manjunath said, “COVID warriors who died because of the virus should be addressed as martyrs. I sought Goddess Chamundeshwari to help us find a vaccine to COVID-19 at the earliest.”
With Mysuru being the second worst-affected after Bengaluru in the state by the pandemic, the world-famous Dasara fest, including the victory parade to mark the triumph of good over evil on Vijayadashmi day will be confined to the Amba Vilas royal palace.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, deputy CMs Govinda M Karajola, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan and Lakshman Sangappa Savadi, Mysuru district in-charge minister ST Somashekar, Mysuru DC Rohini Sindhuri, minister for culture and tourism CT Ravi, and endowment minister Kota Srinivasa Poojari participated in the event.
Union ministers DV Sadananda Gowda and Prahlad Joshi, Chamundeshwari constituency MLA GT Devegowda, Mysuru Mayor Taslim, zilla panchayat chairperson BC Parimala Shyam were also present.
