Mayawati's supporters are mentally harassing my daughter, says Dayashankar's wife

Mayawati's supporters threaten Dayashankar's daughter

Dayashankar Singh, an expelled BJP politician, who is facing arrest for making a derogatory remark against Mayawati is still missing as the police continue to search him across the state. Meanwhile, his wife and daughter allege that they are being abused and threatened by Mayawati’s supporters.

According to NDTV, Dayashankar's wife said that his 12-year-old daughter is being mentally harassed by Mayawati’s supporters ever since Dayashankar called Mayawati a sex worker. "They are calling me and my daughter; they are abusing her. My daughter is traumatised. They are dragging my daughter into this, and no one is standing by us.She is a minor and she is being mentally harassed," Mrs Singh said on Friday.

She further questioned "Can a person punished multiple times for a single mistake...If something happens to my children, will Mayawati take responsibility for it?"

On Thursday, Dayashankar Singh was removed from all party posts after he made an offensive remark about Mayawati, spurring criticism from all the parties. He said “If someone comes with Rs 2 crore, she gives him a ticket. If somebody gives her Rs 3 crore, she cancels the tickets of the previous candidate and chooses him. Today her character is worse than that of a prostitute."

Soon after his remark triggered outrage in political circles, he apologised and said "I can't even think about Mayawatiji in such a way. She has reached here after a lot of struggle."However, the party refused to accept his apology, and BJP UP party chief Keshav Maurya announced his expulsion.

Mayawati was however not happy with the party’s decision and stressed that she wants Dayashankar behind the bars. BSP held massive protests in Lucknow which were called off after Mayawati was assured of his arrest within 36 hours.
