Kochi: Allegation raised saying Thiruvannathapuram gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh had contacted higher officials through a nurse’s phone from hospital where she was admitted.

Swapna Suresh has been hospitalised to Thrissur Medical College hospital due to chest pain. This is the second time Swapna has been admitted to the hospital in one week.

According to reports, the hospital superintendent called all the staff who were on duty at the women's cell to seek information.

Apparently, the staff has denied the allegation. However, the NIA has obtained information that Swapna had called someone in Thiruvananthapuram from the phone of one of the staff.

It is reported that the probe team collected the phone call details of all the staff who were on duty in the women's cell when Swapna was hospitalised.

The Kerala gold smuggling scam came to light after the Customs department seized 30 kg gold from an air cargo consignment from the UAE to the country’s consulate in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.
